Privacy policy for Store Inspection — free Shopify store audit tools
Jul 31, 2026

Introduction

Welcome to Store Inspection (storeinspection.com). We build free tools that help Shopify merchants understand and improve their store performance — including speed tests, SEO audits, theme detection, and app analysis.

Your privacy matters to us. This Privacy Policy explains what information we handle, why, and your choices. Because our tools are free and require no signup, we deliberately collect as little information as possible.

Information We Collect

Store Inspection is a no-signup, free tool. We do not create accounts and we do not require registration.

Here is what we do handle when you use our tools:

  1. The Store URL You Submit

    • What: The Shopify store URL you enter for analysis (e.g., yourstore.com).
    • Why: This URL is required to run the audit. We send it to Google's PageSpeed Insights API and fetch the store's publicly available page to analyze its performance.
    • How long: We do not retain submitted URLs in a permanent database. Audit results are generated on the fly and shown only to you in your browser.
  2. Public Store Data

    • What: Publicly accessible information about the store being analyzed — such as detected theme, apps, page size, and Core Web Vitals metrics.
    • Why: To generate the audit report.
    • Note: This is public information that anyone could observe by visiting the store.
  3. Basic Analytics (if enabled)

    • What: Anonymous aggregate usage data such as page views, approximate region, and device type.
    • Why: To understand how many people use our tools and improve them.
    • How: Collected via privacy-friendly analytics. No personal identifiers are used.
  4. Logs

    • What: Standard server logs (IP address, browser user-agent, timestamps) generated automatically by our hosting infrastructure.
    • Why: For security, troubleshooting, and abuse prevention (e.g., rate limiting).

Information We Do NOT Collect

  • No account registration
  • No email addresses required to use the tools
  • No payment or billing information
  • No cookies used for advertising or cross-site tracking
  • No sale or rent of any data, ever

How We Use Information

We use the information above solely to:

  • Operate the audit tools you request
  • Improve service reliability and performance
  • Protect against abuse and maintain security
  • Understand aggregate usage trends

We do not use your submitted store URLs or audit data to build profiles, target advertising, or share with third parties beyond the service providers required to operate the tools (e.g., Google PageSpeed Insights API).

Data Storage and Security

We follow reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information processed through our services. Because we minimize what we collect, the amount of sensitive data we hold is intentionally very small.

No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. While we work to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Information Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We share information only:

  • With service providers who help operate the tools (such as Google PageSpeed Insights), bound by confidentiality and data protection obligations
  • Where required to comply with the law or valid legal requests
  • To protect our rights, property, safety, or the rights of our users

Third-Party Services

When you run a speed test, the store URL you provide is transmitted to Google PageSpeed Insights to fetch performance data. Google's handling of that request is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review it.

Children's Privacy

Our services are intended for general audiences and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be highlighted on this page.
